Life: The Platformer
Timeframe: January 2014 - May 2014
Project Position: 2D Artist
Life the Platformer is a game I helped make for Dakota State University’s Computer Game Analysis and Design class, that was originally going to be a walk through one’s life, from birth to death, and would show how one’s choices in life would affect them later on. However, my team and I encountered significant scope creep throughout the project, which caused the game to end up being a prototype of the high school segment of the game.
In this project, I was one of two artists. I decided upon the aesthetic of the game and then created virtually all of the assets seen in-game, including the sprites of the characters, the background, the platforms, and all interact-able objects.
What I learned from this project: I learned about scope creep the hard way. I also learned how sprites work in Unity 2D.
