Samsara is platformer inspired by Buddhism and Chinese culture. Within it, you play as a monk as he journeys towards the Bodhi Tree to become realigned in life and transcend Samsara. Along the way, he is presented with puzzles that cause him to change his form between several different Chinese Zodiac animals.

After creating the initial game concpet during the Global Game Jam event, we decided to create a complete version which we would be able to share with the rest of the world. With eleven developers, this team felt very much like an indie development studio. Within this project, I directed a team of four artists (excluding myself) in creating a unified art style. I also helped with character concept and animation, cutscene creation, and user interface.

In April 2015, we began a Kickstarter campaign for the project, which launched concurrently with our application for Steam Greenlight. After our month was over, however, we were not able to raise the amount of money we estimated we would need for the game. With heavy hearts, we cancelled the project.

In June 2016, however, Samsara was successfully greenlit on Steam. We are currently in works to begin reworking the preject.

What I learned from this project: In this project, I learned a lot about communicating with different members of a department, as well as communicating with other departments as well. I also learned how to create cutscenes within the Unity engine, as well as how to further use the Animator tool within Unity.
