The Historic Terrace Theatre

Timeframe: June 2015 - September 2015

Project Position: Website Designer

In June of 2015, I was approached by the chair of a non-profit organization named Save the Historic Terrace Theatre. As they were moving forward with their agenda, they required a website for several purposes. They wanted to have a place where they could post any news, updates, or documents, to be able to share any media articles, videos, podcasts, et cetera that pertained to their cause, allow individuals to both subscribe to mailing lists and contact the organization, and generally have a place in the digital world.

As such, I created three iterations of websites for this organization. I first created a complete, functional website using the standard version of Wix. Because the individual who would control the website after its completion was unfamiliar with Wix, I was required to create a second site. So, I then began to create a website using the wordpress.com customizer. This version was mostly complete, but because of the limitations of wordpress.com, another version needed to be made. Thus, I completed a third site using wordpress.org, which I then passed to the organization.

What I learned from this project: As this was my first project for a client other than myself, I learned how to effectively communicate with them to create a product they desire. This project is also one of the first websites I have created, so I was able to explore the Wix, wordpress.com, and wordpress.org interfaces, as well as experiment with different website designs.
